Football
For two weeks in a row, New England watched two of the worst Patriots performances that we had seen in years. Coming into week four two games behind the Miami Dolphins in the standings, everyone was talking about how this game was must win for the Patriots. So, they went out and crushed the Dolphins from beginning to end as they improved to 2-2. I am going to skip the dislikes for today because there wasn’t much to not like today besides a couple uncharacteristic picks by Tom Brady, but he still rebounded with 3 touchdown passes. The two things I usually hate were on point today. The Patriots run game carved Miami up and down the field, as the team ran for 175 yards on the day. Sony Michel…

Prospect Pool Trilogy Part 2/3 By: Nick Germano

Hockey
Welcome to the second installment of “Prospect Pool Trilogy,” where I will dissect the Boston Bruins farm and let you know the names you should keep a watch out for in the coming years. Each part features four prospects who are on the rise, a brief summary of their skill set, and a professional scouting report.   Axel Andersson, 18 years old, Defenseman Axel Andersson was Boston’s first pick of the 2018 draft (57th overall), and scouts have described him as a “smooth skating defenceman who is skilled with the puck.” It also says he will need to work on his defense and physicality, which are his only lacking aspects of his game apparently, which is a good thing. Assuming he develops accordingly, to me, this sounds like a better…

Time to Panic? By: Drew Celli

Football
Last night, we all watched as the New England Patriots played no defense, consistently ran the ball, and didn’t give Tom Brady a chance to win the game. But they saved one last surprise for us. They let us watch it a second week in a row in a pathetic display against the Detroit Lions. Brady has not been great. He has been average, but he’s not done. Come week five, he will have Julian Edelman back and Josh Gordon will be on the field and hopefully by then, the run game is down the drain and we just see if Brady can lead this team to win. Here are the things that I think need to be changed. First up comes the playbook. The Pats were losing the whole…

Prospect Pool Trilogy Part 1/3 By: Nick Germano

Hockey
Despite the short ending to a promising playoff run this past season, Boston Bruins fans should rest assured knowing their prospect pool is alive and well. The youth movement has already impacted the starting roster since last year, with players like David Pastrnak, Brandon Carlo, Jake DeBrusk, and Charlie McAvoy all being under 22 years old (all are under 21 except for David Pastrnak). All of the players listed above played pivotal roles in a revival season for this Boston team, and Providence only holds more unknown wonders. I’m here to set your radar for the talent to pool in for years to come and what we can expect from them (All scouting reports were found on eliteprospect.com unless stated otherwise).   Ryan Donato, 22 years old, Center Ryan Donato…

Weekend Takeaways-NFL Week 2 By: Andrew Cadigan

Football
Week two was just as good if not better than week one. The AFC is clearly not a one team race, and the NFC is loaded at the top. Here are my takeaways after a second week of football.   New England Patriots 20, Jacksonville Jaguars 31 Before we get to the game, HOT TAKE: Josh Gordon will return back to his 2013 season form (given hamstring health) as the newest member of the New England Patriots. Now, for the game. The Patriots got pushed around up front on defense for the entire game. It really hurt when DE Trey Flowers went out in the first quarter with a concussion .I thought that Jacksonville would stick to the pass game but, even without Leonard Fournette, they were still able to…

Week 2 Likes and Dislikes By: Drew Celli

Football
Well, I never thought I would say this, but the New England Patriots were out classed yesterday. The Patriots don’t win every game, but they never get totally blown out like they did. The Jacksonville Jaguars played with energy, they moved quickly all day, and the Pats looked like it was week two of the preseason. So, here is what I liked and disliked from the week two loss against Jacksonville.   Likes Tom Brady and Chris Hogan They only bright spot of the game was the two touchdowns from Tom Brady to Chris Hogan. Brady played well in the loss, but he just didn’t have enough chances to win the game because the Pats ran the ball 25 times. That can’t happen against a team like Jacksonville. Hogan after…

Just Do It, Kaep By: Paul Edson

Just Do It. Three simple words that when separated mean next to nothing. Three simple words that when combined together to form a simple sentence hold an enormous amount of weight and have great meaning. You want to be a famous musician? Practice over and over and over again. Put your songs on social media platforms and be open to criticism. Just Do It. You want to be a great writer? Write everyday and do it consistently. Read others work. Gather new ideas. Spend endless hours in the library. Be open to criticism. Just Do It. You want to be a star athlete and be a professional? Spend your days in the weight room getting stronger. Run the track, ride the bike, do wind sprints to improve your cardio. Spend…

Weekend Takeaways-NFL Week 1 By: Andrew Cadigan

Football
Football is back. Week one had its surprises and excitement, which is just a sneak peek of what's to come this season. Here are my main takeaways from week one.   Falcons Far From Good The season kicked off Thursday night with a BRUTAL football game. I have been a known Philadelphia Eagles hater, not just because of the Super Bowl, but because I just don’t think they’re good. And what does it say about Matt Ryan and the Falcons to go into Philadelphia and put up 12 points along with Ryan’s 21-43 completions and a 57.4 rating to go with it. It says they will have a similar year to their 10-6 finish last season. Granted, they made it to the divisional round, but this team will continue to…

Likes and Dislikes By: Drew Celli

Football
Well, the New England Patriots are back in action. No surprise here ladies and gentlemen: they won. People thought Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans could come into Foxboro and steal one from Tom Brady and the Patriots. The Patriots won 27-20 in a game that was much more lopsided than the final score indicated. 10 of the Texans points came after Patriots turnovers in their own territory.  At the end of the day, Brady looked good, Rob Gronkowski looked good, and when they are clicking, the Pats are the best team in football. Here’s what I liked and disliked from game one.   Likes Defense Defense has always been the question mark for the Patriots in the second half of the Brady era and this year looked no different.…
